The “Next Generation Technologies and Autonomous Vehicles in the Automotive Sector” seminar, which was held under the leadership of the Turkish Industrialists’ and Businessmen’s Association (TUSIAD), attracted great attention. Important statements were made in the seminar, which was held with the contribution of the German-Turkish Center for Advanced Studies in Information and Communication Technologies. Also at the event, Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology Kacır, GT-ARC Director and Berlin Technical University Artificial Intelligence Chair Prof. Dr. Important names such as Şahin Albayrak and Ford Otosan Autonomous Driving Systems Leader Berzah Ozan took part. In the seminar, it was stated that the TOGG project not only produces electric vehicles, but also includes new technologies such as battery and autonomous vehicle technologies.

TOGG Battery to be Produced in Gemlik

Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology Kacır said that they aim to strengthen the production and R&D infrastructure in Turkey. He pointed out that with the mass production of the domestic automobile, the batteries to be used in the vehicles will also be produced in Turkey. Continuing his statements on the subject, Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology Kacır said: “We are witnessing the increasing interest of global companies in this field in our country. Ford announced its investment of 2 billion euros for the production of electric commercial vehicles and batteries in its factory in Turkey. With this investment, Ford will produce electric commercial vehicles for itself and Volkswagen.”

Nationwide Fast Charging

With Turkey’s TOGG move, work on charging infrastructure that will support the spread of electric mobility has accelerated. Stating that they have published technical standards on charging stations, Kacır said, “We have determined the need for charging stations in provinces and districts. We have designed support mechanisms for this. By the end of 2022, we aim to have our fast charging stations ready all over Turkey to support TOGG’s sales.” used the phrases.
