In the production of domestic automobile TOGG, all details are developed in accordance with the plan. ASPİLSAN will establish a Lithium Ion Battery Production Facility in Kayseri to produce the batteries to be used in the domestic automobile TOGG…
While electric vehicles continue to attract great attention in the automotive sector, important steps are taken towards this sector in our country. Turkey’s Automobile Enterprise Group (TOGG) continues uninterruptedly. In this process, the batteries to be used in the domestic automobile TOGG will also be domestic production.
Serious steps have been taken in Turkey within the scope of lithium-ion battery technology. Finally, ASPİLSAN announced that it will establish a lithium-ion battery production facility in Kayseri. This planned production facility will be the first in Turkey and the largest facility in Europe at the same time. The facility is expected to start operations in 2022 and set up a large production system.
Domestic and National Solution from ASPİLSAN Energy
This factory, which will be the largest lithium-ion battery production facility in Europe, will end the country’s foreign dependence on lithium batteries. Affiliated with the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation, ASPİLSAN Energy will produce batteries for use in vehicles such as the domestic automobile TOGG. Domestic and national solutions will be produced to eliminate the problems in lithium-ion battery technology and meet the needs.
The countdown has begun for the production of all batteries that will meet the energy needs of daily life at the production facility to be established in Kayseri. Efforts to establish Europe’s largest lithium battery production base continue at full speed. The machines used in the production phase were also domesticated with R&D studies. Engineers, working to cost the machines under favorable conditions, develop machines that cost 60 thousand dollars abroad within the scope of R&D for 35 thousand dollars.
Contributing to TOGG Batteries
The first battery to come out of the lithium-ion battery production plant line will be of the cylindrical type. These batteries will have a capacity of 2.8 ampere-hours and a voltage of 3.6 volts. The installation of machinery systems at the factory, whose approximate cost is between 900 million and 1 billion 200 thousand TL, will be completed in January 2022. The factory, which is planned to start mass production in April 2022, will also contribute to TOGG battery systems.
