Turkey’s Automobile Enterprise Group (TOGG), which is preparing for an important competition in the electric car industry, draws all the attention. The latest situation in the TOGG production facility, which was established in the Gemlik district of Bursa, was curious. While it was learned that the works at the factory were continuing at full speed, robotic production integration studies for the production lines were started. Making important statements on the subject, TOGG CEO Gürcan Karakaş shared the latest situation with the press.
TOGG will take its first mass production vehicle off the production line in the last quarter of 2022 and put it on the market. The construction process has been completed at the TOGG factory, which established a production facility in Gemlik with the goal of Journey to Innovation. Finally, the line installation of the paint shop and body sections and robotic production integration studies were started at the facility.
In his latest statement, TOGG CEO Karakaş said, “We are approaching the launch of our brand Togg, the first smart device of our brand, C-segment SUV, which combines mind and heart, eastern culture and western culture, human and technology, first in our country and then in Europe.”
“We Keep Our Promises, We Move On”
Gürcan Karakaş, who took the floor at the meeting that took place at the beginning of the production line installation works at the TOGG factory, noted that everything was going according to the plans. “We take firm steps forward by standing behind every promise we made while developing our smart device. We said ’51 percent local rate’, we picked 75 percent of our suppliers from Turkey and we achieved 51.” The CEO said that this level will increase in the coming period.
Reminding that they will supply domestic batteries by the end of 2022, Karakaş said, “We established Siro in partnership with Farasis. At this time last year, we said, ‘We will start the equipment installation in October 2021,’ and we started.” said. SIRO, which was established jointly with Farasis Energy, is preparing to become one of the leading players in the region.
Robots Ready for Production in Gemlik Facility
Stating that the factory was built on 44 thousand ground reinforcement columns, Gürcan Karakaş stated that approximately 2 thousand people worked at the construction site. He said that with the completion of the factory in May 2022, 62 robots will be ready for production. While it is planned to have a total of 250 robots at the facility, trial production will begin at the end of 2022.
